I am planning on buying a 8 week old husky puppy and a breeder was asking for $742. I am wondering on top of all supplies for the dog if this is too high and i should look to adopt a puppy or am I getting a good deal.

I had bred my 2 purebred registered Siberian Huskies and sold the puppies for 800 each. I included their shots and papers along with a small bag of Eukanuba food.

Here is one of the puppies below

Really meet the parents and decide is $742 worth it. I bred my dogs for looks AS WELL as disposition. They are calm, not- hyper, loyal and neither of the parents were runners. (though that is also how they were raised)

I recently was in the mall and they had a APRI Siberian Husky for sale for 2500. REDICULUS. I’m sure you can find a Siberian Husky cheaper. You can find them for any price really. Again meet the parents. Look at the papers that are provided (if any). Then you decide. Also you can usually tell if someone is just a puppy mill. I would never buy from them.

$742 – That’s an odd amount. They can cost anywhere from $500 on up to over $1000.

I would look at your local shelter.

I recommend looking at rescues and shelters in your area, as well as on your local Craigs List. A purebred Siberian Husky puppy (in my area) goes anywhere from $300 to $2000.

You should definitely adopt a dog. A puppy at a breeder is going to get a good home. A puppy at a shelter will be put to sleep if a good home isnt found. Thousands are put to sleep every day in the U.S., just because noone wants them. A shelter puppy will already have its vaccinations up to date, and they will give you a coupon to have the puppy spayed/neutered when it gets old enough for only $15. Please adopt. $742 is a lot to spend on a dog. Why not spend that on dog toys and vet care for a shelter dog? You could also look online for a Husky rescue in your area. Good Luck!

That’s what I paid…I’m assuming you got that number from D&J. I know someone who paid 400$, then found out that she wasn’t purebred… I’ve seen numbers between $600 and $1200. Just make sure you’re getting what you pay for!
Good luck again, if you have any more questions feel free to e-mail…

Rescue! Rescue! Rescue! I assure you there are loads of Husky Rescues in your area that will more than likely have puppies. Rescuing is a great idea because:

    - Your dog will have been socialized with other dogs and people beforehand to assure a good temperament. Many times they are also socialized with small children and different types of pets.

-They will be up to par on all of their shots.

-Many rescue groups will already have spayed or neutered the animal.

-You’re saving a life! AND you’ll be saving LOADS of money! Typical full-breed rescues run from as low as $100 to $350.

Check out the website and see what rescues are in your area.

I would look into rescuing. Around here it’s easy to find a Husky that needs rescued. Owners tend to give them up because they are so challenging. We had one Husky that got tossed off the back of a pick-up truck. He ended up at our Vet’s office and our Vet called us to take him. It’s amazing how we ended up with Huskies just by word of mouth. Don’t pay that kind of price… I was actually shocked when I read it.
