What do you look for in a purebred siberian husky puppy?
I’m getting a second Siberian and I get pick of the litter. I want one that’ s going to have conformation and possibly to show (I’m not purchasing from just some backyard breeder but a reputable one). What features do I look for? I know what a grown husky should look like and the AKC standards that are involved but not sure what to look for in a pup as potential.

It is not easy to tell what the pup will look like when grown. I have 10 Siberians and they all have their own features, personallities, and markings of interest. As infants, I would have never guessed that the first born of my 7 pups would now – a year and 3 months later – weighs nearly 100 pounds and is 31 inches from the floor to the top of his back. He has a white 3 leaf clover marking on his forehead. He is adorable, as are the others.
To answer your question, however, I would study each puppy carefully and determine what his/her bone structure appears to be. Is he too thin? Does he carry himself with ears pointed up or do they flop? Does he curl his tail in an agreeable fasion? Is he sure footed? Are his eyes both the same color? Are his eyes set too close together or far appart? Does he have a break in his mask construction or is it perfect? These are a few of the things I would look for. Good Luck.
