Obviously Thriller isn’t allowed on the bed and the rabbit knows. I had to work really hard at it but was successful teaching my Husky not to kill may cat or chickens. The trick is, teach the dog she is not permitted to look in the direction of the thing you don’t want it to kill. Now Koshka is like, “Cat? What cat? I don’t see you…!”
@luckyspin956. If you want a husky please do the research. Believe it or not these beautiful dogs end up in shelters and rescues way too often. Just to let you know these dogs are known to have a high prey drive so it is usually not a good idea for them to be around small animals. My husky has killed two gophers and a rat in the backyard. If you do see a situation like this video it is usually the result of a long training process.
No matter how domesticated dogs are, deep inside they are still animals so caution should always be taken. However if the dog was raised around the bunny ever since he was a puppy, then he would look at the bunny as a family member instead of as a potential meal.
My dog was afraid my pet rabbits. She would go up to the cages and when the rabbits moved around she would run away and whimper. It was funny to see my big German Shepard/ lab mix cry over a couple of little bunny rabbits.
@luckyspin956: Nexus and Thriller have been together a lot over the years so we don’t worry about them together. However, every dog has a different temperament so keep an eye on things and you’ll be able to tell.
@javacfordemonmad: We use the crate that is in the video for Thriller at night. During the day he just runs around the house. Since he only sleeps in the crate at night it’s just big enough for him to get in and get himself comfortable. Make sure to give some padding, hard surfaces will be hard on any large dog’s hips (especially as they age)
What a good dog staying off the bed! Good training.

You have awesome pet names.

Nexus’ atempt to dig a hole in the bed through which he could espcape did not succeed.
